Pizza Oven Update
So today we removed the forms from the final pour of cement......
So now with the forms removed there is still quite a bit to do but now we can move the oven to its destination which will be outside Jo-Jos.
I can almost taste the first pizza !!

Something New ..... A Pizza Oven
So a while back Stephanie said to Claude " hey maybe we should have an outdoor pizza oven, it would be cool and great and everyone likes pizza " well maybe that's not exactly how it went but anyhow Claude asked me what I thought and we talked about it for about 5 min and well..... what's the worst that could happen.
first we poured a base
then we layed out the oven
then we built walls for the oven chamber
not yet Stephanie
here is Claude working to create the arch
at this point we are half way complete
Like I said, buda bing budda boom ..........
Hopefully we are ready May 6 for opening day.

JoJo's Opening soon!
This past weekend I had a chance to meet the new employees that will be working at JoJo's this year and taste some of their great food.
My favorite dish is the BLT, Stephanie definately created the perfect lunch special.

Starting A Pineapple
Step 1, after you have picked out a pineapple you need to remove the top, to do this grab hold of the top set of leaves and twist, it should come off with a bit of fruit attached (top right). Now you need to prepare the the crown by stripping off about an inch of leaves and any adhering fruit flesh (top left).
Next you need to carefully horizontally slice small amounts away from the bottom of the crown until you see root buds appear as small dots. The bottom of the root will ultimately look like this when you are finished trimming off the excess fruit flesh (bottom picture).
After trimming and stripping, you will need to let the crown dry out for a few days, this will permit the cut end and leaf scars to heal and prevent rotting So set your pineapple aside for a few days in a dry space and I will reveal the next step in a few days.

Aggie Days
The first day at Aggie Days was great ! Tons of great enthusiasm from all the kids that were at our booth. The ball shooter was a real hit and many kids came back a couple times to shoot some balls into the net.
As I have never been to this event before I was really amazed at the quality and number of different booths that were there. I will have some more pics tomorrow for everyone to see. If you are trying to plan your Sunday I would definitely recommend coming down for a look.

Yesterday was quite a day in the snow as we were working on a new road for the new landscaping wholesale area. Thinking back to when I was 10, playing in the mud was fun.
On another note we have 2 trade shows that we are taking part in this weekend the Horticultural show at spruce meadows and also we are part of Aggie Days at Stampede park, come and see us !

Grow A Pineapple
I have decided to try and grow a pineapple, I recently was watching the news and there was an interview with a greenhouse owner and she showed how to grow a pineapple by using the top, looked simple....... not so much, my first attempt resulted in rot. So armed with new research from google and utube I'm going to give it a go once again.
If anyone has attempted this and succeeded, let me know with any tips.

Time For The Snow To Go
Ok thats good, I really have had enough..... I give up. I'm sure there is a good reason for the snow to keep falling but I really need someone to explain it to me. I took some pics this past weekend of the greenhouse and of the yard after the latest snowfall.
Today was fairly productive as I was mixing soil for the greenhouse and cleaning up geeting ready for the season.

More Snow
This week has been very productive around the farm, the greenhouse and garden center is full of new products and definitely looks like spring has arrived! The custom container drop off has begun and I would encourage you all to come out and take advantage of this great deal.
With the snow still on the ground and now more snow falling, this past week I have been busy this week burning trees that were cut down this past fall and winter to make room for a new much needed parking area.
